Why teams switch

The question comes today. The report comes next month.

Most local insight is locked in spreadsheets and specialist tools. By the time the map is ready, the meeting has moved on.

THE USUAL WAY

A request, a queue, a PDF.

Ask the analyst→Find the data→Clean it→Make a map→Write it up

Every follow-up question starts the queue again.

WITH SPATIAL ANALYTICS

Ask, see, decide.

Ask a question→Map, chart and answer

Follow-up questions take seconds, and your analysts get their time back for the hard work.

Book a walkthroughSee it on your own area, in 45 minutes.
Ask the map

Ask it like you'd ask a colleague.

Type a question in everyday words. The map changes to show the answer, a chart appears, and every figure comes straight from the Data Lake.

Answers with evidence

Numbers come from the data, never guessed, with the source and year attached.

The map does the work

It recolours, zooms and highlights for you, and one click undoes it.

Where are young families moving to?

The fastest growth in children under 15 is in new subdivisions on the edge of the city. Here are the top five, and I've coloured the map to match.

Neighbourhood A+38%
Neighbourhood B+32%
Neighbourhood C+27%
Neighbourhood D+24%
Neighbourhood E+21%

The data underneath

Not just the census. The whole Data Lake.

Spatial Analytics sits on top of the Community Pulse Data Lake, so every theme you report on can go on the map: census results across 2013, 2018 and 2023, alongside deprivation, housing and consents, health, jobs, the economy and more. The same cleaned, cited figures your dashboards use.

Each dataset is mapped at the finest level it is published. Census and population data go down to neighbourhood (SA2); some datasets stop at district or region. Where that happens, the map says so instead of inventing figures.
Who it's for

One map for everyone who plans for people.

PLANNERS

Plan where growth is going

Spot growth early and set infrastructure and services to match.

Which areas grew fastest since 2018?
ELECTED MEMBERS

Walk into meetings informed

Get a clear picture of your ward without waiting on a report.

How does my ward compare with the region?
COMMUNITY AND FUNDING

Target support where it counts

Find the places with the greatest need and show why a grant should go there.

Where is low income most concentrated?
ANALYSTS

Answer the quick ones instantly

Hand the everyday questions to the map and keep your time for deeper work.

Show home ownership against income.
How it works

Three steps from question to decision.

1

Pick your place

Choose the whole country, a region, a district, a single neighbourhood, or draw an area around a site.

2

Explore or ask

Choose a topic from the menu, or just ask. The map, charts and rankings update together.

3

Share the answer

Take the map, the chart and the figures into your report, briefing or funding case.

Coming next

Deeper answers, on the same map.

These are on the way. Join the early access list to try them first.

COMING NEXT

"Why" questions, answered

Ask why an area is changing and get a considered answer that looks across topics and years.

COMING NEXT

Double-checked answers

Each answer is checked to make sure every place, topic and year you asked about is covered.

COMING NEXT

A private option

Keep sensitive questions in-house with an option that runs entirely on your own computer.

COMING NEXT

Your own data

Bring your council or organisation data onto the same map, next to the official figures.

Questions

Before you book.

Something else on your mind? Bring it to the walkthrough.

Do we need GIS or data skills?

No. If you can use a web page, you can use Spatial Analytics. Pick from the menu or type a question.

Can we trust the numbers?

Yes. Figures come straight from the Community Pulse Data Lake with the source and year attached, totals are calculated properly across the areas you pick, and values that are confidential are shown as such instead of being hidden.

Is it only for census data?

No. Census data is one part. Spatial Analytics sits on top of the whole Community Pulse Data Lake: 800+ datasets from 40+ official sources across 13 themes, including deprivation, housing, health, jobs and the economy.

Will it work for our region?

Yes. It covers the whole of New Zealand, every region, district and SA2 neighbourhood. In the walkthrough we open it on your own area.

Is there anything to install?

No. It runs in a web browser on any modern computer.
